FRANCE IS FULY MOBILISED TO PROVIDE HUMANITARIAN AID FOR VICTIMS IN UKRAINE

The Sposkesperson’s office of the French Foreign Affairs Ministry issued today, 21 March, a statement over the war in Ukraine, few days, before the Western allies, are to meet at NATO headquarters, un Brussels, on 24th March, and at the European Council (24-25 March), for two successive extraordinary summits . « Faced with the tragic consequences of the invasion of Ukraine by Russia, France is continuing and strengthening its mobilization in the field of humanitarian support for populations affected by the war. » the statement said. The U.S President Joe Biden is highly expected by the allies, as he is to attend the two Summits, in order to consolidate the ongoing top diplomacy, and reaching out at least te beginning of an agreement between Russia and Ukraine, towards peace, starting by a cease fire from the Russian side…Meanwhile, French President Macron, held an audio conference, with his counterparts from the U.S, Germany, Italy, and the UK, to « maintain the coordination between parameters and allies over the war in Ukraine » The leaders, during the exchange, returned to "the critical humanitarian situation in Mariupol, and the urgency, to obtain unhindered humanitarian access

On the same day of March 21, President Macron also received at the Elysee Palace, successively the Spanish PM Pedro Sanchez (their discussion focused on the means of energy supply) and in the evening the President of Finland, Sauli Niinisto, the latter "known for his knowledge of Russia and his role in maintaining dialogue with Moscow according to a year adviser from the Elysee.
SPOKESPERSON'S STATEMENT FROM THE MINISTRY FOR EUROPE AND FOREIGN AFFAIRS
« Faced with the tragic consequences of the invasion of Ukraine by Russia, France is continuing and strengthening its mobilization in the field of humanitarian support for populations affected by the war. The Crisis and Support Center of the Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs coordinated the delivery from Paris on 21 March of emergency aid worth 2.4 million euros intended for Ukrainian authorities and the people of the country. An A330 cargo plane made available by the CMA CGM Foundation is transporting 55 tonnes of donations to Warsaw to meet the priority needs expressed by the Ukrainian authorities in the following areas:
- MEDDICAL : 10 tons of equipment including 10 oxygen generators intended for intensive care units as well as 9 tons of drugs offered by the Tulipe association supported by French companies in the sector and 15 pharmaceutical laboratories allowing the care of injured and chronically ill;
- ELECTRICITY: 31 generators, including 6 high-capacity units intended to reinforce the electrical safety of Ukrainian health structures;
- EMERGENCY SHELTERS: 9 family tents of 42m2 offered to the Polish Red Cross by the French Red Cross for the reception of Ukrainian refugees;
- IT & COMMUNICATIONS: 8 tons of equipment collected in connection with the State Secretariat for Digital Transition and Electronic Communications thanks to donations from several companies (smartphones, computers, routers, as well as 60 km of optical fiber) intended to ensure the continuity of links and communications;
- FOOD: more than 4 tons of infant milk donated by a French company in the food industry.
In liaison with the Polish authorities, these materials will be handed over to the Ukrainian authorities without delay.
Jean Yves Le Drian, the Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs would like to thank the actors who mobilized for this operation through financial or in-kind donations: the local authorities and companies that made contributions to the support funds managed by the Crisis and support, the CMA CGM foundation, the Tulipe association, the French Red Cross, Lactalis, Altitude Infra, Cdiscount, Ekinops, Kerlink, Nexans and Strategic Scout for the benefit of Ukraine.
